AAARGH!
I just wrote some hundreds of words of commentary about all the example sites directly to my blog editor and guess what? Somehow the page updated itself and the text was gone just like that. This makes me feel like screaming. And crying.
A few lines and the to bed.
All the sites had their ups and downs. Basicly I value the ease of use, clarity and the low amount of clicks that was needed to get to to material I wanted. Learning Space, MIT and Connexions did just that. LeMill was worst case, but it did have some Finnish material which was good. Although the material was not. Or atleast the introduction that was presented about them (just the title and a few tags). LeMill asked too many questions from me before it started to show the actual material.
Ted is a great site. We could easily put all the important speeches and presentations on the web, only if the speakers did not make huge amounts of money doing the seminars. These seminars are usually a pain to attend to, travelling to them is unethical and polluting and you always miss the most important speaker. Craig Venter: "On the verge of creating synthetic life" was mind blowing stuff.
I might understand your reasons to use Wiki as the learning space in this course. I am no that sure how it will work... like now when we have our blogs in different places. Without the assigment information my blog is useless waste of web space. Openness is the strength of wiki. How about the socializing side of it?
